About Us
The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation has been recognized as the premier organization dedicated to research, education, fellowship and patient care in the fields of oncology and hematology in the Long Island/Tri-State area.
Research-Focused, Patient-Centered
The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation is committed to the ultimate goal of eradicating cancer through the research programs it supports. But we also recognize that cancer has a very human face. As a result, 40% of the Foundation’s budget is dedicated to patient care at our six Don Monti Cancer Centers, as well as at the Don Monti Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Unit at North Shore University Hospital.
At the transplant unit, the first and only adult transplant unit on Long Island awarded accreditation by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy, patients undergoing aggressive cancer treatment are made as comfortable as possible in a warm, comforting environment.
Emotional as well as physical needs are attended to; a full-time social worker dedicated solely to transplant patients is on staff to help patients and families through the weeks of treatment on the closed unit.
Your Dollars at Work
According to organizations that rate the effectiveness of charities, a satisfactory charity should spend at least 60% of total expenses on its programs. Highly efficient charities spend 75%.
One hundred percent of your donations to The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation are spent on our programs.
All administrative and ancillary costs are underwritten by the Monti-Saladino family, carrying forward the tradition of the Foundation’s late founders, Tita and Joseph Monti.
