Every penny of every dollar donated to The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation goes directly toward the fight against cancer.
The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation is unique in many ways, but one of the most unusual is that all money donated is used in the fight against cancer. All administrative and ancillary costs are underwritten by the Monti-Saladino family, carrying on the vision of the Foundation’s late founders, Tita and Joseph Monti, who established this generous precedent. One hundred percent of every dollar you donate goes to support our programs and not to staff salaries or fundraising. Donate now to help us in our fight.
The work of the Foundation is broken into the following areas:
The Foundation sponsors basic cancer research, bench research and clinical trials conducted by a number of staff professionals.
Patient care encompasses both ambulatory and hospital-based treatment. Twelve full-time oncologists, assisted by oncology nurses and other cancer-trained professionals, care for the largest patient practice in the region.
The Foundation introduces four new Fellows each year. Fellows assist the staff in treating patients and prepare themselves to assume major physician roles in oncology programs worldwide. Some of the Monti Fellows have gone on to assume medical positions in some of the most prestigious institutions in the country; others have opened the first oncology practices in Third World countries.
Education in the Monti program includes seminars, lectures, screenings and anticipatory programs for physicians, other medical professionals and the lay public. Dozens such programs are offered annually at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and in the other six Don Monti Cancer Centers.
